Vietnam Airlines Adjusts Services on South Korean Routes to Prevent COVID-19

With complications in South Korea regarding the COVID-19, Vietnam Airlines has implemented several regulations and adjusted services accordingly on Vietnam – Korean routes to limit the spread of the epidemic and ensure the health of both passengers and employees.

Before operating a flight, Vietnam Airlines will take measures to identify passengers based on their travel history and places of residence to assist relevant authorities at the destination. Vietnam Airlines also advises all passengers from Korea to carry aboard and use face masks during the flight.

Regarding in-flight services, Vietnam Airlines will temporarily suspend the catering of hot meals and will only provide bottled mineral water and packaged snacks for Economy-class passengers to minimize contact with reusable items; magazines, pillows are also not offered, and blankets will only be given in case the passengers need medical aid. The temperature in the passenger cabin will be constantly maintained at 26 degrees Celsius to suppress the survival and development of the SARS-CoV-2. Passengers returning to Vietnam from Korea will be required to fill out health check forms from Vietnam Airlines before landing.

All aircraft flying from Korea to Vietnam will be disinfected by Disinfection Spraying CH2200 liquid as per the regulations and standards of the competent medical authorities. The liquid is approved by manufacturers to use on aircraft without posing risks to passengers’ health. To enhance the prevention of the epidemic, all Vietnam Airlines flights from Vietnam to Korea will return to Vietnam immediately after landing, and the flight crews will not enter Korea as before.

Vietnam Airlines is reducing the frequency of its routes to Korea and flexibly adjusting other routes to meet the traveling demand of passengers during the course of the epidemic. The airline will continue to monitor the development of COVID-19 to take appropriate measures accordingly.
