The question I have heard the most of late is, “Has the VNA’ calendar come out yet?”, which shows the significance of this perennial gift to the Group’s customers and employees each new year.
I was in a very excited state of anticipation regarding this year’s calendar – especially after seeing a sneak peek on spirit.vietnamairlines.com. When I first held the calendar in my hands, I knew the wait had paid off!
With years of experience in advertising and branding at my unit, perhaps it has been an “occupational habit” for me to “nitpick” publications in general and calendars in particular. And I can personally say that the “Lotus Spirit” calendar is the most beautiful one that VNA has released in the last five years.
The most impressive thing about “Lotus temperament” is the ingenious integration and blending of the human body and the lotus shape. The images of dancers in VNA’ traditional long dress showing spectacular and flexible movements are awe-inspiring.
The colors used are quite subdued, not too dazzling, yet very eye-catching. The mixture of lotus leaf green, lotus petal pink, and VNA’ traditional blue and yellow colors creates a vivid yet rustic image.
People often think of modern aircraft, charming pilots, and beautiful flight attendants when they think of an airline, but this year’s calendar showcases more than that. Each shape represents a unique, deep, and sophisticated meaning. The “Lotus Spirit” is also Vietnam Airlines’ spirit as the national airline bears all of the precious qualities of lotuses and is always ready to face and overcome challenges to succeed.
I recall a timeless poem about the lotus that is as fine as VNA’ beauty and spirit.
“Sen vẫn thế, âm thầm và lặng lẽ
(Lotus remains silent and quiet)
Rồi một mai, bừng sáng giữa khung trời
(Then one day, it blooms under the clear sky)
Từ sâu thẳm chốn bùn lầy đất mẹ
(From the muddy bottom)
Ngát hương sen, nét đẹp chẳng phai phôi.”
Still fragrant, as its beauty never fades.)
As the world has entered the fourth industrial revolution, it is easy to look up what day it is with just a click. However, it does not mean that beautifully printed calendars are forgotten because they are often how businesses convey their message, image, and brand to customers, aspects which VNA has excellently executed with this year’s “Lotus Spirit” calendar.
