As of 7 a.m. on August 13, Hong Kong authorities announced the closure of the airport in a bid to ensure the safety and security of travelers.

Passengers are also being advised to regularly check flight information on the airline’s website. They can use the fare basis code to quickly search for news on their flights and departure times in order to flexibly adjust their traveling schedule if necessary.

VNA and JPA changed the flight schedules on several flights between Vietnam and Hong Kong on August 13 due to the impact of the protest at the airport.

As a result, VNA are to delay their VN594 and VN595 flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong for 7 hours and 40 minutes.

Other flights from VNA, including flights VN593 and VN592 between Hanoi and Hong Kong and the VN598 flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hong Kong, are still being operated as normal.

Elsewhere, JPA was forced to cancel two flights, BL160 and BL161, between Hanoi and Hong Kong, and an additional two flights, BL164 and BL165, between Da Nang and Hong Kong.

Passengers on the affected flights are to received support in accordance with the airline’s regulations and will be put on other flights if necessary.

VNA also recommends that passengers departing from Hong Kong airport arrive three hours ahead of their scheduled departure time.

Both VNA and JPA have recommended that passengers with plans to fly between Vietnam and Hong Kong during this period should keep a close check on information in order to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
