On October 4, Le Quang Hung, Le Hoang Tuan, and Vu Phuong Thao, members of the International Passenger Team, VNA Passenger Service Center, spotted and promptly stopped five passengers using fake passports (Turkey) from getting on Flight VN031 operating on SGN-FRA route. This helped VNA avoid a EUR 25,000 fine (equivalent to around VND 637,315,000), imposed should these five people have been returned to Vietnam.

During the check-in process, the staff noticed such red flags as the passengers using one-way tickets which had just been issued on October 3—paid for in cash, traveling with little checked baggage (some not even having baggage), and some using official Turkish passports,…

Immediately, Hung, Tuan, and Thao reported to the TOC executive on duty their suspicions and coordinated with Border Police’s Reconnaissance Team.

On the afternoon of October 6, Border Police’s Reconnaissance Team verified and provided the original information of the five passengers. It turned out that they were all Afghanis.

On the next day, October 5, Team Members Vu Thu Thao and Nguyen Thi Hoang Yen, and Vice Team Leader Nguyen Nhu Mai of International Passenger Team 1, VNA Passenger Service Center, spotted and promptly stopped the five passengers using the fake passports (the UK and the US) – while performing their duties on Flight PR592 operating SGN-YVR route of Philippines Airlines. In particular:

While handling the check-in process, the TSN VIAGS staff noticed that the tickets had just been issued on the morning of October 5, there was no baggage, and the passengers whose names were in Arabic barely spoke English.

Noticing those red flags, Thao, Mai, and Yen reported to Philippines Airlines’ Representatives to coordinate with the Border Police’s Reconnaissance Team to investigate.

After the initial investigation, scouting police notified that the original nationality of the male passenger was Afghani while the rest may have been from Palestine or Jordan.

The repeated detection of invalid travel personnel documents by TSN VIAGS staff shows that the number of travelers using illegal documents is on a sharp rise. Therefore, staff and employees should constantly enhance their subject matter knowledge and stay alert while checking travel documents to avoid missing out on any illegal outbound immigration cases.

To practice prompt encouragement policy for excellent individuals in service teams, on the morning of October 10, TSN VIAGS hosted a ceremony to commend and reward the members of two Passenger Service Centers for their contribution in detection and collaboration with authorities to promptly stop instances of fake document users, avoiding damage to the Airline and improving the prestige and service quality of TSN VIAGS.
