These days, the complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic are constantly on the rise, impacting societies and economies worldwide. However, it is now more important than ever to be optimistic and celebrate life, even the littlest things – VNA strongly believes this. All flight attendants, pilots, and staff members of the national flag carrier, in any circumstance, always strive to offer passengers the most fulfilling experience. An example of this is the birthday party thousands of meters off the ground for passenger Robert Miller amid the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Flight VN50 from Heathrow to Ho Chi Minh City on the 19th of February became an unforgettable memory for Robert Miller (Cre: Quoc Bao).
Previously, VNA received a letter from Julie Miller (Robert Miller’s wife) in which she shared her wish to celebrate with an in-flight birthday party for her husband, turning 65.
Aspiring to offer passengers a wonderful experience when flying with VNA, upon receiving Mrs. Miller’s request, specialized units, as well as the VN50 flight crew, quickly prepared to actualize the wish of this passenger.
A small party with champagne, a lovely little, starry birthday card, elegantly-decorated birthday cakes, and best wishes read through the public announcement system by Chief purser Nguyen Hoang Quoc Bao sparked a very surprising and joyful birthday for passenger Robert Miller.

Smiles were hidden behind several medical face masks – due to the epidemic – but the great enthusiasm and dedication of the Cabin Crew helped Mr. and Mrs. Miller feel the warmth and happiness in the crew’s hearts.
Julie Miller, despite being unable to put everything into words, expressed her gratitude to the VNA’ Cabin Crew for their willingness to organize such an unforgettable birthday party for her husband before embarking on a wonderful vacation in Ho Chi Minh City.
As a seasoned staff member of VNA, Chief purser Nguyen Hoang Quoc Bao has had many opportunities to celebrate special events held thousands of meters off the ground, such as birthdays and wedding anniversaries. Chief purser Bao is also well known for his talent in folding napkins into flowers and dyeing them by using champagne. “We always cherish our passengers no matter who they are and where they come from. Our passengers’ happiness and compliments are a great source of motivation for all VNA’ flight attendants – further motivating us to accomplish our daily tasks. During this period, I always tell my coworkers, ‘COVID-19 cannot stop us from sharing our love with our passengers.’” he said.
Let’s look back on memorable moments of an in-flight birthday celebration amid the COVID-19 epidemic:
