On the morning of September 5th, in the hall of Flight Crew Division 919, the Corporation’s Youth Union cooperated with the National Institute of Hematology & Blood Transfusion to organize the blood donation day named “Giọt hồng Vietnam Airlines” in Long Bien area – Hanoi.

The event attracted 280 staff, Union members, and the youth from 14 grassroots Unions in Tan Son Nhat area. Through the event, 188 units of blood were donated, providing significant contributions towards helping patients in need.

Understanding the profoundly gracious gift of voluntary blood donation, VNA members enthusiastically took part in the event despite their busy working schedules. They helped spread the importance of life-saving blood donation amongst the youth, and the staff.

Donating blood to save lives is a wonderful cause. Those receiving blood get not only vital medical assistance, but they also feel the sharing, love, and care of the society in general and the donors in particular. Blood being donated today will bring life and happiness to many people, families, and society tomorrow.

Participating in the blood donation day, Mr. Dang Danh Khoi – chauffer of the Corporation’s office as well as the top blood donor with 20 total donations shared: “In my opinion, blood donation is very important and necessary for everyone because someone will be saved thanks to each drop of blood given. That’s why when I go out, I often visit hospitals and centers for blood donation. This is also my wish when I donate blood. I feel happy when I get the chance to share blood with those in need. I wish the Corporation would organize more blood donation events for Union members and the youth in order to provide the opportunity to help ‘take the weight off of’ patients in need of blood”.[TDW2]

Organized for the first time in 2017, “Giọt hồng Vietnam Airlines” is a meaningful annual event of VNA’s Youth Union, following the principle of “for each drop of blood given, one life is saved” of Vietnam Red Cross Society as well as the “leaves protecting tattered ones” tradition of Vietnamese people.
