New ANA Business Class Product Makes U.S. Debut

All Nippon Airways this month has begun flying its retrofitted, four-cabin Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to the United States, with the aircraft added to its routes between New York and Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita airports.

The new design features ANA’s new Business Class seat design, “The Room,” which doubles the width from its previous Business Class seating; each seat also comes with direct-aisle access and a door. The design also includes “The Suite,” private First Class seating that also includes a 43-inch monitor for in-flight entertainment. Both Premium Economy and Economy cabins have new upholstery design as well.

ANA began flying the redesigned aircraft on its Haneda-London Heathrow route in August, a move which ANA Americas SVP Shigeru Hattori said has led to “very good comments from our customers, in particular the Business Class.” It will add the redesigned aircraft to its Haneda-Frankfurt routes in its upcoming winter schedule.

The carrier also has begun thinking through a redesign of seating on its Boeing 787 fleet, he said.

Hattori said the timing of the new 777 seat offering coincides with the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo along with international expansion planned with the recent allocation of new slots from Haneda. That expansion will happen in the spring, he said, though ANA has not released specifics to date.

“Taking the timing of both, we would like to provide this new seat product,” Hattori said. “It’s a good chance to introduce our new product all over the world to many passengers.”
