Recently, Vietnam Airlines announced that all passengers flying with the airline will be able to carry out self-service check-in service at kiosks when departing from Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

The move represents the first time that self-service check in kiosks have been applied to customers in Vietnam and will help passengers save time when checking in their luggage. In addition, it will also help flyers avoid the long-queues that build up in check-in areas of major airports, especially during the hectic Lunar New Year period.

As a result, passengers will now be able to weigh their own luggage at the kiosks, enter the luggage information into the system, print the luggage tag, and then proceed to take their luggage to the Vietnam Airlines’s reception desk.

Following this, the luggage will then be put onto the conveyor belt once the information on the boarding pass and the baggage tag is confirmed to match the actual baggage claim.

At present, passengers flying with Vietnam Airlines are able to check in across 43 kiosks at the domestic terminals of Noi Bai, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, and Tan Son Nhat airports. In order to assist passengers in completing all necessary procedures, the national flag carrier has arranged staff and signboards to be posted at kiosks and close to baggage claim counters.

Passengers will be able to check in at kiosks between 24 hours and 60 minutes ahead of their scheduled departure time. For those not flying with checked baggage, passengers will able to use the boarding pass printed from the kiosk and go straight to the security check-in before heading to the boarding gate.

In addition to check-in kiosks, the airline’s passengers will also have other convenient check-in options such as checking in via the website at www.vietnamairlines.com, or alternatively via the airline’s mobile app, by calling 1900 6265, or using the automatic check-in service found on mobile applications.

According to statistics released by Vietnam Airlines, some 50 per cent of passengers departing from Noi Bai, Da Nang, and Tan Son Nhat airports use online check-in services via websites, mobile applications, and kiosks.

This figure often reaches over 60 per cent on particularly busy periods such as national holidays and New Year, with the service helping passengers save time and reducing congestion at airports during peak times.
