The new partnership allows members to access reward seats and earn points on all fares across all flights marketed by Air France and KLM globally. Frequent flyers with Gold status or higher will also be able to access tier benefits, including priority boarding, priority check-in and extra baggage allowance on any flights operated by Air France and KLM.

The agreement between Qantas Frequent Flyer and Air France and KLM’s Flying Blue programme means members will be able to earn points when they travel on eligible flights across each airline. They will also be able to redeem Qantas’ Classic Flight Reward seats across Air France and KLM’s economy and business cabins.

Members simply need to enter their Qantas Frequent Flyer number when booking their next flight in order to earn Qantas Points with Air France or KLM. Members can redeem available reward seats when they log in and select to “use points” when searching for flights on the Qantas website.

Qantas says that Qantas Points can be earned on all eligible booking classes, except on Air France and KLM’s codeshare flights operated by an airline other than Air France, KLM or Qantas.

With this new partnership, Qantas frequent flyers will also be able to fly to 60 new destinations across Europe and Africa, such as Biarritz, France; Dresden, Germany; Calvi, Corsica, France; and Bristol, United Kingdom.

The airlines have also announced that by the end of the month, Air France and KLM will launch a codeshare with Jetstar Airways and Jetstar Asia Airways, two members of the Qantas Group which will offer onwards connections from Paris and Amsterdam via Denpasar and Singapore, respectively.

Air France and KLM will place their code on flights to Da Nang, Vietnam; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Denpasar, Indonesia; Medan, Indonesia; Surabaya, Indonesia; Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Siem Reap, Cambodia; Kula Lumpur, Malaysia; Penang, Malaysia; Phuket, Thailand; Yangon, Myanmar; and Darwin, Australia.

Olivia Wirth, Qantas Loyalty CEO, said: “Members will now have access to hundreds of thousands more reward seats in popular destinations including Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Barcelona and Athens, as well as new destinations across France, Italy and Northern Europe.

“Frequent Flyers used 10 billion Qantas Points booking dream trips across Europe last year. We know this partnership will allow our members to explore more of the continent and find reward seats more easily.”

In 2018, Qantas entered into a codeshare agreement with Air France and KLM, allowing passengers of each airline to connect on flights between Australia and Europe via Singapore and Hong Kong. Customers also benefit from reciprocal lounge access and Qantas Points on Qantas coded flights.

Earlier in June this year, Qantas announced a revamp of its frequent flyer programme. The airline said it would make over one million extra reward seats available annually on Qantas and new partner airlines, reduce carrier charges, implement changes in points required for reward seats and introduce Lifetime Platinum membership.

Recently, the Australian flag carrier has rolled out improved frequent flyer benefits and new codeshare destinations in the US in partnership with American Airlines.
