A Letter From The “Lion City”

Celebrating VNA’s 25th anniversary, Ms. Nurul Adilah, a local staff at VNA Singapore Branch, sent us a letter sharing her feelings and memories during her time working with VNA.

In the 10 years I have served in VNA, I saw the grown in many aspects of my skills, knowledge and career points. All these would not have been possible without the guidance of my managers, my seniors and peers.

I have seen the growth of VNA and its staff from the point I entered, to its current standing.

Even in the face of adverse conditions and worldwide pandemic, the team in VNA had never failed to ensure that we work together, regardless or stations, distant by miles, yet all close in the heart, as one VNA.

In the short stint of my career, I have had the pleasure to experience management under 3 different General Managers. I would gladly say that each of them had their own set of strengths and skills that they had duly imparted onto us without ever holding back. They have been there to provide guidance in the arena of business management skills, Public Relations skills, Operation Management skills and many other trade skills that allowed us to grow to who we are presently.

Never was there a time where disagreements were absent. But with their aspiring management skills, they were able to grasp the gist of each staff’s argument and understood our perspective. From two opposing opinions, they were able to extract salient points and consolidate them into a winning solution. I had never dreamt of acquiring such knowledge until I met VNA management staff.

Singapore traditionally is known as the city which never sleeps. It is known to have companies working round the clock and staffs are put to the maximum test of their capabilities. However, it is unfair to say that of VNA. We work hard, and we play hard! VNA family in Singapore never fall short of any opportunity to unwind and bond. We very often arrange dinners to picnics to karaoke events! We bond, we plan, we execute!

Each time we had an event, we would always reminisce each of our success and even failures and mistakes. We reflect and learn together as a family and we then toast the sorrows away, and exchange it with joy!

Vietnam Airlines never fail to recognize the merits of its staff. For instance, I was employed in the capacity of an Airport Operations Supervisor. However, noting the commitment and knowledge honed in me, I was made Duty Manager. Such meritorious promotions are vastly accorded across the company and it is really something that boosts the morale of the staffs.

As VNA celebrates 25 strong years in service, weathering chaotic and peaceful days in many regions across the world, we remain united as one, with hopes and dreams of VNA seeing many fruitful years ahead, to reach each milestone and century, VNA shall grow stronger by each single day!
