The central theme of the musical show “Vietnam Airlines – A Bright Future” was expressed through epics filled with a wide range of emotions. We can feel the long-lasting love, the sorrow of sacrifice and loss during the wars, the heroic spirit when “the whole country joined the war,” the joy of the country’s reunification, and the aspiration for a bright future for the country and VNA.

The first chapter, entitled “Paving the Way,” was depicted by Uncle Ho’s departure from Nha Rong harbor to find a way to save the country on the Amiral Latouche Treville cruise. The pink lotus flowers highlighted the image of the elite son of the Lotus Village and the motherland of Vietnam. He devoted his life to his homeland and the people of Vietnam so that we would have a prosperous and happy life today. The theme of chapter two was expressed through the song “My Country, My Love” with a charming performance by the duet tandem Tien Thanh and Thao Tran. When the love of the couple blends with the love of the country, words of the song become the strength that urges men and women to temporarily set aside their relationship and answer the call of the country as “the whole country goes to war.” The passionate and pleasing melody is a testament to the combined strength of the home front and the frontline, the motivation for overcoming all invading enemies.

Chapter three, with the theme “Monument of Immortality,” was expressed through the deep, heroic song “Cuc.” Answering the call of the country, many cohorts of young people left home to join the war, among which were courageous young female volunteers. Their sacrifices were immortalized by the song, becoming a symbol of revolutionary heroism that encouraged the youth to fight and defend the country.

The piece entitled “Cuc” was emotional, creating a moment of contemplation for the auditorium about the sacrifices of the courageous young female volunteers. Looking closely, tears could be seen in the eyes of some of the guests in the front row and farther back in the audience.

With the theme “The Victory Song,” chapter four was expressed with the excitement and enthusiasm of the energetic spirit of Thang Long through the song “Hanoi Dien Bien Phu.”

The glorious victory “Dien Bien Phu in the Air” with 12 days and nights in 1972 under the fiery sky of the capital saw the sacrifice of the brave pilot heroes Vu Xuan Thieu, Hoang Tam Hung, and so on. The glorious victory in the sky of Hanoi had a significant spillover effect and encouraged the spirit of our army and fellow countrymen. It was the encouragement and support for soldiers and compatriots across the country that took advantage of the opportunity to knock down the invading armies and claim victory for the entire country.

Closing tragic and gallant periods of the nation, finally, our country was united, and our people enabled us to enjoy peace and independence. That was the theme of the final chapter, “Vietnam Airlines – A Bright Future.”

One by one, all performances in the repertoire led the audience through the valiant historical stages of the homeland from the moment Uncle Ho left to find a way to save the country, to the power of love blended with patriotism, followed by the tragic yet gallant songs expressing the spirit of Vietnam overflowing in happiness at the unification day and in the hopes for a bright future for the country and Vietnamese aviation.
