VAECO HCM Charity Group: Giving is Receiving

With over a year of operation, the VAECO HCM Charity Group continually feels that “For it is in giving that we receive.” The best thing that the group has received so far is witnessing the happiness of people living under challenging circumstances when they receive generosity from others.

With its desire to help shoulder the burden of people with “harder lives” in the Company and in the greater society – by alleviating their worries about material matters – the volunteers of VAECO’s centers, branches, departments, and units have jointly established the VAECO Volunteer Group in HCMC. The group has been in operation since June 10, 2018.

The VAECO Volunteer Group is also a bridge bringing the kind sentiments of the Company’s staff and other members of society to share and help people in need. The targeted subjects of the group are employees of the Company (currently working or retired),  as well as orphans and the homeless.

After more than a year, the group has received both material and great moral support from the Company’s employees. Each time the group calls for donations and implements its programs, the attention and encouragement from the Company’s Board of Directors further motivates the charity group’s volunteers.

In our society, there are many people with “difficult lives” we think of every day. Though it’s impossible for us to help all of them, the group has taken the initiative to help the disadvantaged to the best of its ability. Its members wholeheartedly feel that “For it is in giving that we receive.”

The first program initiated by the charity group was at the Go Vap orphanage in HCMC. Later, the leader of the HCM branch supported the group by supplying vehicles. Additionally, benefactors in the Company have provided even more donations. The group has organized visits to remote orphanages in the Southwestern region, as well as the Cu Chi commune – which is about a two-hour drive outside of HCMC.

The group has supported orphanages and people in need – including ill children – and have even called for and sent donated clothing to impoverished peoples living in the Central Highlands provinces. As a new school year is about to begin, the volunteers of the group have worked out a plan for the “Receiving old school bags” program to support students from different ethnic groups in Gia Lai province.

Anh Quan, the Head of the group, shared that: “We always hope that more benefactors will work with us to help the underprivileged people in easing the burdens in their lives.”

After completion of each program, the volunteers always feel amazed after seeing how their efforts have positively impacted the lives of others.

Once again, we would like to thank and acknowledge the kind hearts of our sponsors, benefactors, and group members who have unreservedly contributed their efforts and time in helping the less fortunate. We hope that our benefactors will continue to lend their substantial support in the future.
