‘Journey Back Home’ is an annual program conducted by the Party Cell and Trade Union of the Accounting Administration Office, Finance and Accounting Department, in order to nurture a sense of gratitude, patriotism, and national pride in each and every staff member. This year we paid a visit to Quang Nam Province, the homeland of Revolutionary tradition, culture, and history as part of the so-called ‘Red’ address (a historical landmark associated with the Revolution).

In gratitude of heroic Vietnamese mothers who made significant contributions to the libration and defense of the nation, the delegation visited the monument of Mother Thu.  She was a prime example of a brave Vietnamese mother. Her monument is situated on Cam Mountain, Phu Thanh Hamlet, Tam Phu Commune, Tam Ky City, Quang Nam Province. There, we burnt incense in homage. It is a national cultural landmark that pays tribute to more than 100,000 heroic Vietnamese mothers all over the country.

The delegation visited the monument of Mother Thu – a heroic Vietnamese mother, situated on Cam Mountain. (Cre: Accounting and Administration Office).

The monument itself is 18.5 m high and made of sandstone. Its surrounding blocks are made of granite, forming a 120m curvature. Engraved at the center of the monument is the portrait of Mother Nguyen Thi Thu with her rustic beauty, benevolence, and immense love for her children. The surrounding blocks, made of natural rock, are stacked closely together in a tasteful way to reflect the emotional ups and downs of children longing for their mothers (happiness – sadness;  hope – nostalgia).

The image of Mother Thu embracing her children is a humane symbol of the profound love of a mother to her children – courageous and patriotic warriors who devoted themselves to the glorious defense of the nation.

The delegation took a photo at the foot of the monument. (Cre: Accounting and Administration Office).

At the foot of the monument, the Party Cell and Trade Union of the Accounting and Administration Office burned our incense in homage to this heroic Vietnamese mother. In the sacred atmosphere and with sincere gratitude, we observed a moment of silence for all of the fallen and heroic mothers. We then walked into the exhibition and preservation room, where the list of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers as well as documents and footage capturing their life and contribution to the country, are kept.

‘Journey Back Home’ was an opportunity for each and every staff member to remind themselves of the sacrifices that courageous Vietnamese mothers made for the freedom and independence of the nation. We, as employees of the Corporation and members of the Party, vowed before the monument to keep the patriotic tradition of previous generations alive, and also, to join forces in learning and working towards the development of VNA as well as the development and defense of Vietnam.
