The route will be the first direct flight between Yunnan and Hai Phong and is expected to reduce the journey time between the two cities to just over an hour. In addition, the new flight path will contribute to strengthening economic, cultural and tourism exchanges between the two countries.

At present, Ruili Airlines Co, Ltd has a fleet of 19 aircraft, all of which are Boeing planes. The company operates 61 domestic routes and 10 international routes, totaling 108 flights to 39 cities each day.
At the welcoming ceremony for the first guests, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Khac Nam emphasized that the direct air route from Kunming to Hai Phong will serve to contribute to intensifying links and co-operation between Hai Phong city and Yunnan province in particular and the two countries in general.
In order to fully tap into the potential of the new flight path, Hai Phong will create optimal conditions for Ruili Airlines to develop, and satisfy the needs of passengers.
Ruili Airlines Chairman Ma Zhanwei expressed a desire that Hai Phong city will continue to facilitate the company’s operations in the city.
Currently, airlines operating throughout Vietnam have launched flights to and from Cat Bi International Airport. These include routes to Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Buon Me Thuot, Pleiku, Nha Trang, in addition to several flights to China, the Republic of Korea, and Thailand.
Hai Phong also has plans to open new routes to Japan’s largest cities in the future. In 2019, Cat Bi International Airport is expected to welcome over 2.7 million passengers, an annual increase of 10 percent.
