Japanese-style tableware set for VNA's Business class.
This year VNA continues to improve overall service quality consistently by providing outstanding offerings that meet customers demand. Japanese cuisine has been available on the VNA’s menu since the carrier started its operation to Osaka in 1994.
The dishes and experience are now being enhanced with the accompaniment of traditional Japanese tableware. This addition is one of the highlights of the carrier’s developments to accommodate the wishes of its consumers, based on numerous studies it conducted.
Designers paid great attention to each detail of its tableware design, following the style of Japanese tableware in combination with Vietnam’s cultural elements. The set is divided into three parts based on the Japanese meal sequence of having an appetiser, main dishes, and dessert.
Miso soup bowl is an important part of the set.
Appetisers will be served on a semi-circle plate with elegant patterns, or an octagonal blue pot which is typical in Japan. The main dishes are served with ceramic bowls bearing lotus patterns, the symbolic flower of Vietnam. With its key role in balancing the tastes, a brown bowl of miso soup will also become an integral part of the tray.
The dessert is arranged on a green ceramic plate decorated with sakura petals, which reflects VNA’s respect for Japanese culture. Each piece is designed with sophistication and shows the harmony between Japanese taste and style, and the typical features of Vietnamese culture through the lotus patterns.

“We are committed to introducing continuous renovation and ceaselessly improving our quality of service. The fusion between the traditional cultures of Japan and Vietnam in our business class cabins will offer a unique experience in both taste and sight for our passengers,” stated Le Hong Ha, VNA’s Executive Vice President.
This year also marks VNA's enormous efforts to maintain and improve our services with Skytrax standards, with the aim to be certified as a Four-star airline for the third consecutive year. The recognition by customers, as well as domestic and international organisations, has demonstrated that the carrier’s investments have been on the right track, meeting the expectations of customers from onground to inflight services, and paving the way for VNA to become a five-star airline in the near future.
Japan is one of VNA's major market, being among the top five countries with the highest number of passengers flying to Vietnam, and with an annual growth of around 12 % over the past 5 years. In the first six months of 2018, total passengers flying between Vietnam and Japan hit 1.1 million, up 14% against the same period last year. Of the total, VNA served 680,000 passengers, a year-on-year rise of 12% which represents 61% of the total passengers.
VNAs has put Boeing 787 and A350 into operation on all flights between Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo/Osaka. So far, the national flag carrier has been the only airline running direct routes to Nagoya/ Fukuoka, as well as the Da Nang-Tokyo route, covering its Japanese destinations with state-of-the-art aircraft.
